Letter Writing for Gender Affirming Care 101: A Play Therapist’s Guide-Heather Sowada & Remi Andrews (Intermediate)
In order to provide gender affirming care to children and teens, play therapists need essential and specialized knowledge. This workshop provides play therapists an understanding of the letter writing process, WPATH Standards of Care 8, and assessment of gender dysphoria.

Meet the Presenters

Dr. Heather Sowada, PhD, LMFT
Dr. Heather Morgan-Sowada is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Iowa. She is an Assistant Professor of Marriage and Family Therapy at Mount Mercy University. Heather owns a private practice called Resolute Therapy. In 2019 she and Remi Andrews started Resolute Rainbows, which provides group psychotherapy for children and teens who identify as trans or gender non-binary, and their parents.

Remi Andrews, MA, LMFT, RPT
Remi Andrews is an independently licensed marriage and family therapist working in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Remi identifies as a trans masculine person, and uses he/him pronouns. He is passionate about working with LGBTQIA+ individuals, and works with a person-centered approach learned from play therapy training. Remi also loves being walked by his dogs and killing houseplants.
